A new speckle pattern fabrication method is proposed in this paper, by using an off-the-shelf handheld inkjet printer. By printing, the speckle pattern quality will no longer depend heavily on the operator. A good quality control is achieved. This method can be used for both fluorescent and classic speckles preparation. The former, published on [APL 2020](https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0016384), has distinguish advantages and we highly recommend for general use.
Background: compared with regular speckle patterns formed by reflecting the illumination light, fluorescent speckle patterns generated by the emitted light of fluorescent particles offer distinct advantages of specular reflection elimination, high …
Heatwave distortions, caused by unevenly distributed temperature and refractive index in the optical path, unavoidably occur in high-temperature digital image correlation (DIC) measurement. To eliminate these distortions, a multispectral DIC-aided …
An advanced two-dimensional digital image correlation (2D-DIC) using active imaging and telecentric imaging has been proposed to overcome the problems of out-of-plane motion and ambient light variation. Here, the technique is further improved by …
Digital gradient sensing (DGS) is a non-contact and full-field optical measurement technique, which assesses mechanical behaviors of transparent materials or specular structures by measuring angular deflections of light rays. However, owing to the …
High-throughput measurement of thermal deformation and determination of coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) using a high-resolution digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera and digital image correlation (DIC) is described. To mitigate the mosaic …
Fluorescent digital image correlation (DIC) has been implemented on monocular and binocular fluorescence microscopes for shape and deformation measurements at the microscale and even the nanoscale by tracking fluorescent particles. This technique, …
